I’m thrilled to finally share Highly Inevitable, Book 4 in the Cedar Spurs Ranch series—and this one wrecked me in the best possible way.

Marnie Webb and Travis McKay aren’t strangers, enemies, or ships passing in the night. Their complication cuts far deeper: they already know each other down to the bone.

For years, Marnie has lived woven straight through Travis’s life. She knows his home, loves his daughters fiercely, and can read his temper just by the weight of a shutting cabinet door. Travis knows her every tell—the hidden fatigue behind her bright smile, the exact piece of pot roast she’s eyeing, and the razor-thin line between her playful sarcasm and a dead-serious warning.

Yet knowing someone’s soul and confessing what’s in yours are two wildly different skills. Travis McKay is spectacularly, frustratingly bad at the second.

Marnie spent a decade being the anchor. She stepped into a shattered family, stitched the pieces together, and mastered the art of being indispensable. But usefulness is not the same as love, and being desperately needed will never satisfy the ache of being chosen. Refusing to confuse the two any longer, Marnie does the unthinkable.

She walks out.

No slammed doors. No cinematic screaming matches. Just a quiet, resolute exit to finally build a life of her own.

Travis is left stranded in the sudden silence of a house he doesn’t know how to run, blindsided by the terrifying truth: the woman he spent years trying not to want is finally done waiting. He can diagnose a failing commercial power grid in thirty seconds flat, but ask this master electrician to wire words to his own heart, and suddenly basic language becomes lethal high-voltage technology.

What follows is an exquisite, messy collision of grief, healing, and stubborn longing. It’s packed with dry humor—burned breakfasts, merciless teenage commentary, catastrophic domestic experiments, and an entire ranch of nosey coworkers who notice every charged glance.

Beneath the banter beats a deeply grown-up love story. At forty-two, Marnie and Travis know that starting over isn’t reserved for the young. It’s about learning to honor the ghosts of the past without sacrificing the future standing right in front of you.

When their years of restraint finally fracture, that suppressed desire explodes. Highly Inevitable delivers scorching, open-door heat grounded in agonizing emotional intimacy—the sheer electricity of two best friends realizing that familiar hands can touch each other in entirely new, breathless ways.

If you crave mature second chances, stoic heroes brought to their knees, fiercely competent heroines, found family, and love that burns slow and hits hard, this book is for you.

Some love stories blindside you out of nowhere.

Others? They were always inevitable.

Highly Inevitable: Cedar Spurs Ranch Book 4 is live on Amazon now. Step back onto the ranch—Marnie and Travis are waiting.
